Sri Lanka shares down despite Asian gains.
Colombo market opened on positive note with other Asian markets but ended the day in red. ASI lost 3.43 points to close at 166.33 while MPI lost 4.30 points & ended at 1722.92. Turnover for the day was Rs 204.8 million.
Most of stock markets were up as leaders of world’s largest economies begin a meeting to find a solution for world financial crisis.
John Keells Holdings contributed Rs 129 million to the market turnover by trading over two million shares. JKH closed Rs 63.25 up by 75 cents. Lanka Cement was the other stock with heavy trading. Over 1.5 million Lanka cement shares traded today.
Hatton National Bank lost five rupees to close at Rs 73.00.
