Colombo Stock Market Report – 16-07-2009.

ASI lost 2.49 points to close at 2370.55 while MPI lost 14.48 points to close at 2633.43. Turnover was Rs 302.8 million.

Two index heavy Telecom stocks; Dialog Telekom & Sri Lanka Telecom both shed their value by 25 cents & 50 cents each & closed at Rs 5.00 & Rs 45.00 respectively.
Plantation stocks managed to capture investor attention and most of stocks in this sector posted gains. Agalawatte Plantation PLC was up by 1.25 to close at Rs 23.00. Bogawanthalawa Tea Estate closed 7.25 higher at Rs 43.25.

More than 2.4 million shares of Pan Asia Bank (PABC) traded within price range of Rs 15.50 – 16.75 & closed 25 cents higher at Rs 15.75.

Colombo Dockyard Plc continued to trade strong & closed one rupee higher at Rs 109.50.
Foreign investors were net sellers with Rs 20.6 million purchases & Rs 70.1 million sales.

16-Jul-2009 CSE Re-opens Trading Floor

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) will re-open the Trading Floor at the World Trade Center on Monday, 20th July 2009. The CSE temporarily suspended operations of the Public Gallery/Trading Floor at the World Trade Center in April 2008 due to security concerns.The Trading Floor will house representatives of 13 Stockbroker Firms. Clients registered with any of the stockbroker firms represented at the CSE Trading Floor must obtain an Identification Card from their Stockbroker Firm to be permitted to access the Trading Floor.
