Turnover & indices dips at Colombo Stock Exchange.
Market closed below the sociologically important 3000 index level. ASI was down by 25.73 points to close at 2992.87 while MPI lost 25.39 points to close at 3365.87. Turnover was low at Rs 293 million.
Investors are still worrying over Mr Rajarathnam’s issue. Meanwhile Bloomberg website reported that Mr Rajarathnam is planning to liquidate his hedge funds to protect investors.
According to local brokers even he sells his investment here there will be more investors to take it up as Sri Lankan economy is set to record higher growth & expected better corporate results in coming years.
Nestle Lanka Plc was up by 12.00 rupees to close at Rs 422.00. MDT Walkers Plc gained 11.75 to close at Rs 111.75. Kelani Tyres Plc closed at Rs 52.50, up five rupees.
Development Finance Corporation of Ceylon (DFCC) lost 4.50 to close at Rs 148.75 while National Development Bank was down by 2.50 to close at Rs 185.50. Commercial Bank was down by 2.75 to close at Rs 178.50 while its nonvoting shares closed at Rs 121.00, don by Rs 4.25.
John Keells Holdings closed unchanged at Rs 140.25.
