Colombo Stocks closed higher on last trading day of the week after continuous fall.
Colombo market was up on Friday with renewed buying interest by investors. ASI was up by 56.80 points to close at 2911.62 while more liquid Milanka index gained 67.03 points to end the day at 3274.76. Turnover was 357.7 million rupees.
Blue Chip John keells Holdings closed the day 3.25 higher at Rs 140.00. Highly diversified Hayleys Plc gained five rupees to close at Rs 155.00.
There was price improvement seen on Banks Finance & Insurance sector. Commercial Bank of Ceylon Plc was gained by 6.75 to close at Rs 174.25 while National Development Bank closed at Rs 180.00, up Rs 8.00. Ceylinco Insurance lost Rs 15.50 to close at Rs 214.00 on 200 shares.
There were total of 144 gainers & only 11 losers for the day.
Foreigners were net sellers with Rs 72.3 million purchases & Rs 86 million sales.
Generally market outlook for long term investments remain positive but short term fluctuations can be expected mainly due to upcoming elections.
