The Bull Run which was started before the Presidential election continues at CSE. ASI gained 54.98 points (+1.51%) to end the day at 3691.39 while more sensitive MPI closed 77.22 points higher at 4259.01. Turnover was 2.96 billion rupees. JKH alone contributed one billion rupees to total equity turnover. More than 6.1 million shares of John Keells Holdings Plc shares traded & closed 50 cents lower at Rs 176.00.

·         Seylan Merchant Bank Plc (nonvoting) – 13,301,700 shares traded & closed at Rs 1.10 (+0.10).
·         Seylan Merchant Bank Plc (voting) – 5,059,400 shares traded & closed at Rs 11.00 (+1.75).
·         Seylan Bank Plc (nonvoting) – 5,748,300 shares traded & closed at Rs 22.00 (+2.00).
·         Lanka Cement Plc – 5,299,800 shares traded & closed at Rs 31.00 (1.25).
·         Kshatriya Holding Plc – 5,002,900 shares traded & closed at Rs 9.00 (+ 0.25).
Shares gained in almost all the sectors. With the announcement of sub division of shares, Sampath Bank closed 10 rupees higher at Rs 230.00. Commercial Bank of Ceylon Plc was up by five rupees to close at Rs 195.25 while its nonvoting shares closed six rupees higher at 134.75. Development Finance Cooperation of Ceylon (DFCC) gained 3.00 to close at Rs 174.25 while another development bank NDB closed at Rs 210.50, up 3.75.
 There was good investor interest seen on plantation sector stocks too. Watawala Plantations Plc closed eleven rupees higher at Rs 130.00 while Thalwakelle Tea Estates Plc was up by 6.25 to end the day at Rs 33.25.
Keells Food Products Plc lost 19.75 to close at Rs 70.25. Renuka City Hotel Plc was down by five rupees to close at Rs 225.00.
Foreigners were net sellers today with Rs 189.6 million purchases & Rs 910.5 million sales.
